A Thank-You Letter for This Community

I usually express my gratitude by a simple message, a small gift, or returning the favor; so a formal thank-you letter just isn’t my thing; I always find it embarrassing no matter what (And I kind of feel so when writing this article too).

But considering how this community affects me, and the fact that I probably won’t have a chance to meet most of you in person, I feel obliged to write this.

It’s been my first year on Medium, and I want to thank some people who have inspired me along in the way of writing. They might not know that I remember and appreciate those inspirations, so I would like to shout it out.

I’ll begin by thanking the community. I’m grateful for everyone who has responded, clapped, and followed me on this platform. Before I write on Medium, I had a lot of presumptions:

I always thought language is a barrier and it would be impossible to express my real self in a language that I’m not familiar with.

I always believed a community can only be built when people get to see and conversing with each other.

I thought it’s impossible to get real followership if I’m not promoting my article to those who already know me, namely my friends and families.
